Professional Podcasters Promote Your Product with NotebookLM

Google's NotebookLM generates custom podcasts (a.k.a. Audio Overviews) tailored specifically to your product or service and it sounds really good! It's as if you were covered by NPR or your local radio station. As great as that is, it'd be nice to have some visual component before posting it to YouTube. This is where Genolve can help; it will generate a video to match exactly what is being discussed in the podcast! Read on for tips on working with NotebookLM as well as what works for generating the background video with Genolve. Then finally, we discuss another case where you might want to add video to an MP3 - instant music videos!

Generate Podcasts with NotebookLM

The first step is to make the podcast with NotebookLM. Login to your Google account and go to: https://notebooklm.google/ then click the 'Try NotebookLM'. Create a new notebook. Next, supply data for the AI to consume from any of these sources:

  • YouTube Videos
  • Website page links
  • Google Drive items
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides
  • Pasted text

You can supply up to 50 source items. If you already have a podcast in mind, only use the data you want the podcast to cover by clicking the check boxes on right side of sources. This will prevent the podcast from straying off topic. Any YouTube videos need to have subtitles. If yours don't, you might be able to automatically generate them. In your YouTube channel, click the pencil icon (circled below). Then click the "Subtitles" button on the right side of the screen. You will see an option to automatically generate subtitles or a button to make edits to existing subtitles.

Back with NotebookLM, the magic happens; in the "Notebook Guide" look for "Audio Overview" and click Load (see below). A cool new feature allows you to simulate a user call-in with a question that the hosts will answer. Look for the call-in button if you want to do this.

After a minute or so you have the results. Listen to it and download if OK. Check that the size is under 25MB. If over, try converting to MP3 as it has higher compression. Also check that the play time is under 11 minutes -the max time currently supported by Genolve.

You have the audio file but before moving on, let's see what else you can do with NotebookLM. There are some buttons for several useful tasks to make what Google calls 'Notes', look for the buttons:

  • Generate a FAQ from your data
  • Generate a briefing doc
  • Make a Study guide
  • Make a Time-line

Try entering a query in the chat. The AI will use all your uploaded data to make very informed responses. Here are some ideas:

  • Suggest new product directions
  • Make a marketing plan
  • Suggest places to advertise
If you like the response, you can save it as a Note.

Generate Video Backgrounds with Genolve

Getting the podcast was easy and so is adding video; simply upload the audio file and Genolve magically generates the video in a matter of minutes. Note that only Premium users can make videos longer than 15 seconds. To test things out, maybe that is all you need. To go for a full podcast ready to deploy on YouTube, you'll want to sign up for Premium Monthly. The first month is free and you can cancel at anytime. That's right, you can get the full video for free if you cancel within the first month - of course we hope you'll find Genolve so useful you'll continue the subscription. To make the background follow these steps:

  • Select any category e.g. 'Music Video', then click the 'Make an Animation' button.
  • In the pop-up, look for the 'more ideas' dropdown then select: 'Make a video from a music mp3 or podcast mp3'.
  • Look for the 'Upload Audio' button (just above the album covers) and upload your MP3 file. (WordPress users will access the Media Library instead.)
  • Then click the button 'AI MP3 to VIDEO' and also note you can choose to generate simple subtitles or a full multimedia video.

It may take up to a minute to analyze the audio. If you get an error saying the audio is too large and it is a WAV file, try converting to MP3 which takes up much less space. Verify the extracted text is OK as it is common for names and brands to get misspelled. It is also highly recommended to set a style. A style gives a more unified feel to the video. You can also change the number of pages though it is not recommended as it is calculated to match the MP3 length.

Watch the video play and if any image or text needs adjusting, click it when it appears. Images can be redone with AI and text can be edited. To adjust timing watch this video. Finally save and download your completed video!

Instant Music Videos

You can make a background video for any music MP3. This works best if your music has lyrics since the video is keyed from the lyrics. You can make a multimedia video or simple lyric video that shows the lyric text. Choose a sample from Spofity or upload your own MP3. Going beyond 15 seconds will need a Premium Membership. Click the "AI MP3 TO VIDEO" button. Wait up to a minute and the next screen will show the extracted lyrics. Check for misspellings of slang or names. Multimedia videos will have additional options for number of pages, speed and overall style. Click 'Go' and in a minute or so your video will appear. If any image or text needs adjusting, click it when it appears. Images can be redone with AI and text can be edited. Finally save and download your completed video! More tips:

  • If posting on TikTok be sure to use portrait mode, in the menu: Music Video -> TikTok/Snapchat/Instagram
  • To adjust timing, learn how to use the timing bars.
  • Go to the next level with music driven animations as explained here.
