Are you tired of trying to evaluate the design aesthetics of your projects? Well, we have you covered with the launch of a groundbreaking new feature; the AI Critic. In the design editor, simply click the AI Critic button and get an AI aesthetic evaluation of your design. Use it when you puzzle whether a certain change to your design is good or bad; get the score before the change and after and if the score improved, then it was a good change! Wait, there's more, the AI Critic also evaluates the generated designs.
In the Genolve editor, whenever you click on a design, new variations are generated with simulated evolution. One problem is that some of these designs lack aesthetic appeal. The color may be off, the shape malformed or contain some other ‘cruft’. The AI Critic will remedy this problem. The AI model will rate designs as good or bad and it will sort through the cruft so you don’t have to. It will also eliminate a design if it thinks it is a duplicate. The aesthetic score, displayed in the corner, provides users with actionable feedback to help them improve their designs.

NIMA Pytorch Training Details
The model was trained with an AI technique called transfer learning. It uses a pre-trained AI model that was trained to classify images and then adapts it to evaluate aesthetics. An interesting side note is that an image classification challenge is where today’s AI revolution started:
On 30 September 2012, a convolutional neural network (CNN) called AlexNet achieved a top-5 error of 15.3% in the ImageNet 2012 Challenge, more than 10.8 percentage points lower than that of the runner up. This was made feasible due to the use of graphics processing units (GPUs) during training, an essential ingredient of the deep learning revolution.
A planed future feature is automatic evolution. The top design selected by the AI critic will automatically be selected for another round of evolution. This process can repeat until the perfect design shows up. Because of the heavy server load this feature will only be open for Premium users. Another future improvement is to handle animations. The AI critic is currently enabled for animations but it is only looking at the first animation frame which may be blank or a small part of the overall animation.
AI Critic is directly integrated into Genolve's design editor. To try it out simply click the ‘Make an Image’ button. The user-friendly interface, intuitive tools, and advanced technology make it easy for anyone to generate stunning designs in just a few clicks.
"Our mission is to revolutionize the way designs are created through generative design," said Craig Mandsager, CEO of Wild Web Widget, Inc., developer of the Genolve website, "With AI Critic, we're taking that mission to the next level, giving users the ability to quickly and accurately evaluate the visual appeal of the designs generated. This will help users to create even better designs through our platform."
